EMDR for recovery from trauma – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy treatment that has been designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories. It enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are a result of disturbing life experiences.
Psychoeducation: This therapy involves the therapist teaching the survivor about the impact of trauma, common disorders associated with trauma, and ways to cope with symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioral therapy: Cognitive Behavioral theory stems from the idea that people are characterized by how they think about the world, and that the way they think and interpret events leads to emotional responses.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: DBT helps people learn and use new skills and strategies to develop a life that they experience as worth living. DBT skills include mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Experiential Therapy – Uses expressive tools and activities as well as forms of recreation to re-enact and re-experience emotional situations from past and recent relationships.
Life Skills – All individuals will receive daily assistance and training in life skills that are necessary or desirable for full participation in everyday life. Life Skills includes job readiness and vocational skills. Our Team will assist in activities of daily living, resume building, interview prep and skills, budgeting, community integration and resources, referrals and a variety of other life skills needs.
Self Management and Recovery Training is not a 12-step group. SMART Recovery is a support group for individuals who have chosen to abstain, or are considering abstinence from any type of addictive behaviors, by teaching how to manage self-defeating thinking, emotions, and actions; and to work towards long-term satisfactions and quality of life. SMART Recovery is based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and Stages of Change Therapy, and can be done as a stand alone support system, or in combination with the 12 Step Program.
SCBH offers the most extensive SMART Recovery Training in the country, where, if you choose, you can learn how to lead and start your own SMART Meeting. We offer regular SMART meetings and groups at all our facilities.
Art Therapy and Reiki – This is focused on alignment healing in which the process transforms energy blockages that become patterns of disharmony through deeper awareness and development. The process will bring you back into your natural state of balance.
Brain Mapping and Neurofeedback – Mental Health professionals use brain mapping to identify the neurological cues that lead to addictive and maladaptive behavior. By identifying these indicators, your clinical team is better able to create an individualized treatment plan. Neurofeedback measures brainwaves to produce a signal that can be used as feedback to teach self-regulation of brain function.
Pranayama – Through sound, movement and controlled breathing, the Breathworks program offers a personal, powerful, and transformational experience by accessing parts of the psyche that are not as accessible in our daily lives.
Sound Healing – Provides deep relaxation promoting a balanced, centered state of being immersed in sacred sound. This space provides sound healing, chakra balancing, guided meditation, visualization, aromatherapy, and hands on energy medicine.
Yoga – Research suggests that the practice of yoga modulates the stress response. Mental health and physical health are not just closely allied, but are essentially equivalent.
Aftercare & Alumni Program – SCBH is aware of the difficulties maintaining sobriety without a positive support system. SCBH provides an alumni program where a smooth transition between treatment and “everyday life” can occur. It keeps our alumni connected to the staff at SCBH, and provides continued tools to maintain sobriety and wellness.
Medication Assisted Treatment – SCBH is a “MAT friendly” community. MAT is the use of medications in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies for mental wellness and the treatment of substance use disorders. A combination of medication and behavioral therapies is effective in the treatment of substance use disorders, mental wellness, and can provide assistance in long lasting recovery.
Family Support – At SCBH, we offer a very special weekly FAMILY SUPPORT NIGHT. This is a support group just for family and friends of our clients and others in the community who have loved ones struggling with addiction. We know that involving family and friends in your treatment increases your chances of success. However, your family and friends are often operating under limited knowledge and assumptions that do not support healthy communication and healing from addiction. At our FAMILY SUPPORT NIGHT, your loved ones meet other families struggling with addiction. They are given education, support and strategies to best help you (and themselves) while in you are in treatment and afterwards. Our FAMILY SUPPORT NIGHT is a favorite weekly event here at SCBH. For more information on current day, time and location, please see your Case Manager or Therapist.
Alumni Services – It’s often said that the opposite of drunk and high is NOT clean and sober. The opposite of drunk and high is HUMAN CONNECTION. At SCBH, we take this to heart by offering a close knit alumni community, for both those who are in the area and those who return home to other places. Our participating alumni are a dedicated, supportive group of folks who will welcome you warmly should you choose to participate. We have two types of events for our alumni:
** If you are a client with legal issues we cannot offer legal advice as that is outside of our scope however we can make appropriate referrals for legal aid. If you have legal appointments and/or upcoming court dates, sanctions, etc. please inform staff of dates so we may arrange transportation. **
