Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is ideal for existing clients transitioning out of higher levels of care and is also available to new clients who meet IOP criteria. It is an intensive eight-week program that provides structure and support in recovery while you navigate sobriety in everyday life. You’ll take part in both individual therapy and group sessions, strengthening relapse-prevention skills and processing the triggers you’re encountering at home, work, school, or in relationships during early recovery.
An intensive outpatient program allows you to live your daily life while still receiving regular treatment for addiction. In IOP, you meet approximately three times a week for about eight weeks with a primary therapist and take part in group sessions. Each IOP session lasts about three hours. You’ll attend treatment and review your goals and treatment plan. The specifics of your treatment plan may change as your needs in recovery evolve.
Intensive outpatient treatment is different from a residential program because you do not live in a rehab facility. You may choose to live at home or in a sober living residence. In an IOP, your treatment plan focuses on participating in regular individual and group therapy and staying on track to meet your recovery goals.
South Coast’s intensive outpatient program provides you with the support and guidance you need to continue moving forward in life. Your individual therapist offers support, education, and suggestions that help you continue working through the underlying causes of drug or alcohol abuse. During group therapy, you’ll process triggers and difficult emotions, and gain support from peers who understand your situation.
