Addiction Therapy in Irvine

PRIMARY THERAPY FORMATS IN OUR MALE-ONLY INPATIENT PROGRAMS

To foster a safe, comfortable therapeutic environment for all formats, clinicians will travel to the South Coast male residences to perform therapy in the home you will be living in during our inpatient programs. This practice allows for our clients to feel relaxed and secure, while also ensuring their privacy during the healing process from addiction.

Individual Therapy

During individual therapy sessions, you are given the opportunity to work one-on-one with a licensed therapist who will help you examine the causes of your addiction and how these causes contribute to addictive behaviors. This type of therapy allows you to develop healthier thoughts and learn how to handle life’s stressful situations without turning to drugs or alcohol. Individual therapy also provides you with the resources to build new coping mechanisms that can further support your recovery journey.

Group Therapy

Group therapy sessions are held under the guidance of a trained therapist, you can join together with other group members through the recovery process. Group sessions are also a wonderful way to receive support and gain an understanding of others throughout treatment. Group therapy is not only about listening to others’ experiences, but also about being heard by those who have gone through similar struggles. Each member can find strength in leaning on each other while building healthier coping capabilities during recovery.

Family Therapy

Family therapy assists those seeking to recover from addiction in addressing the underlying family dynamics that can contribute to ongoing substance abuse issues. Working with a trained therapist, the entire family learns more about themselves and their patterns of interaction which can lead to more constructive discourse and help improve communication between all family members. Dual Diagnosis Treatment

in our Men's-Only Drug/Alcohol Treatment Program

When a person is dealing with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues like depression or anxiety, it can have a devastating effect on both their physical and mental well-being. Having a mental health condition in addition to a substance or alcohol use disorder is often referred to as dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder. In these cases, it is important to treat both the addiction and underlying mental health conditions in order to achieve the best results.

At our male-only rehab center in Irvine, we offer a complete treatment plan for your co-occurring disorders, in addition to your treatment plan for substance abuse. In doing so, we provide the necessary medical and clinical support to instill a lasting recovery from addiction and management of any mental health disorders.

At our Irvine, California drug and alcohol treatment locations, clinical and support staff will work with you to ensure the presence of any co-occurring disorder(s) is explained and treated. Our team of experienced therapists is trained to assess your unique situation and story to create tailored treatment plans that incorporate both substance abuse counseling and mental health therapy.

It’s important to note that if you have co-occurring disorders, both disorders must be treated, as each disorder often reinforces the other, so ignoring one can make it harder to address the other.

If you believe you are struggling with an addiction and a co-occurring mental health disorder, South Coast’s addiction treatment centers in Irvine, California can help you recover from both and start a new life in recovery.

About Our Inpatient Programs in California

Holistic Rehabilitation

All of our programs follow a holistic approach to recovery, meaning that we are focused on providing recovery to the mind, body, and spirit through behavioral therapies and individually concentrated care. Our male-only inpatient treatment programs are in Irvine and Costa Mesa. We also offer PHP/IOP programs in Newport Beach. Our Newport Beach location is a co-ed outpatient program for men and women who are looking for structure and clinical guidance to maintain long-term sobriety.

Inpatient Treatment

During the inpatient portions of treatment, which include our medical detox and inpatient residential programs, we separate men and women completely. Women will live in one of our houses with all-female peers, while men will reside in another home with all-male peers for treatment. The clinical decision to separate genders during these significant stages of early recovery was made to keep the focus on healing. Male and female dependency can often develop during these vulnerable stages of early recovery, which is one reason we men and women live separately and attend group therapy sessions with peers of the same gender. Another reason for the separation during these levels of care is that we are a trauma-focused treatment center, and many of our clients are coming to us with a trauma history that may be exacerbated or triggered by the opposite sex. Until clinical work is done surrounding these traumas, we will keep men and women separated during treatment.

Do you accept couples?

Yes, we do accept couples who are looking to attend treatment at the same time. We will not permit couples to live together during treatment, as our goal is for each partner to do work on themself before reuniting. We look to strengthen the relationship you and your partner have by strengthening each whole person first.

At South Coast Behavioral Health’s detox and inpatient residential treatment facilities in Orange County, California, we offer a safe and comfortable environment for men and women to detox from drugs or alcohol and begin their journey to recovery.

Entering Addiction Treatment in California

Substance abuse treatment can be a difficult and vulnerable experience, so why would you consider traveling away from the familiarity of home to receive it? The truth is, the opioid crisis has impacted certain regions of the United States much harder than others. If you happen to live in an area that is similarly struggling with opioid addiction, it might be necessary to travel for substance abuse treatment so that you can access life-saving support. This is especially true if you’re in a rural community where recovery resources such as 12-step support groups and specialized recovery initiatives are limited or simply don’t exist at all. Although leaving your comfort zone may come with challenges, traveling for addiction treatment could end up being what saves your life.

It is important that you remove yourself from any negative environmental influences to recover from long-term substance abuse. Over the years of abusing substances and engaging in behaviors related to addiction, many people establish a toxic living environment that supports their drug abuse. To successfully recover from addiction, traveling for treatment can provide the change and safety needed.

By traveling for treatment, you can enter into a private treatment environment with qualified medical care, away from people and scenarios that promote old patterns of behavior. If you are truly looking for a change, take a break from the people, places, and things that could easily lead back down the road toward alcohol or drug use. Doing this will give you the best chance for re-establishing your health both mentally and physically. For these reasons, among many others, it is recommended for severe substance use disorder cases to attend treatment away from home. This change of environment helps to break ingrained associations, as well as provides relief from triggers— allowing for the individual to focus solely on his or her recovery. This change is also shown to reduce instances of leaving treatment before completing the program.

If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
We are here to help because we’ve been there.

Let us help you take back your life.
You are the most important individual that we can help. You matter to us in ways that we cannot describe in words. Your life has value, and no matter how broken you think you are, we are here to help put the pieces back together.
