Treatment for Veterans in Southern California
Military service is one of the most difficult occupations due to the extreme danger and long tours of duty that accompany the job. Those returning home after a tour of duty can find themselves turning to drugs and alcohol to help deal with mental health issues related to PTSD and other trauma. Estimates show that around one in every 15 service members suffer from a substance use disorder. According to the Wounded Warrior Project, more than 76% of veterans suffer from mental health issues.
Due to the stress and trauma that comes with military service, veterans have unique treatment needs. The Valor Program at South Coast Behavioral Health offers trauma-focused, evidence-based treatment for all veterans.
Treatment for First Responders in Southern California
It’s key for police officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders to be strong both mentally and physically to complete the tasks appointed to them by our society. The continuous exposure to trauma, life-threatening scenarios, and the physical toll of extended work hours with minimal rest can have adverse effects on mental health. This heightened vulnerability may contribute to an increased risk of substance abuse and addiction within the firefighter and first responder community.
The Valor Program from South Coast Behavioral Health helps treat substance abuse in first responders through evidence-based and holistic treatment methods. Our counseling team is specially trained to help people overcome trauma and move on to a brighter future.
