We provide alumni services for all clients who have graduated from a program at South Coast. Our alumni services include routine check-ins, weekly panels, support group meetings, and activities.

United by the starting point of their recovery, our alumni come together to create memories, provide support to each other, and pass along their message of experience, strength, and hope to the next individual who is struggling.

South Coast’s alumni are a community of amazing people striving to do their best in recovery. In doing so, our graduates stay true to their values and guiding principles. We do our part to keep the connection strong between members of the South Coast recovery community by creating opportunities for engagement on a weekly and monthly basis.

Where Do Our Alumni Community Events Take Place?

Our alumni gatherings usually take place in Newport Beach, California with events in the surrounding local area. We also have a large alumni base from states nationwide, so we hold alumni events in other states. Currently, our ability to offer events depends on the number of alumni in that area.

Recovery Events in Newport Beach

We hold a weekly panel consisting of South Coast alumni. The format of this panel is a Q+A, to give current clients the opportunity to ask any questions they have. Common topics cover recovery, the recovery process, and how to handle stressful situations after treatment, etc. In general, our panel alternates between male and female alumni. This way, our male clients can ask questions to a panel of men, and female clients can also ask women in recovery.

This weekly panel happens @ 6pm PST, every Tuesday at our PHP/IOP center in Newport Beach, CA.

South Coast also hosts events on a monthly basis for any alumni who would like to make memorable experiences that are more recreational in nature. These monthly events are not held on a specific schedule, so always be sure to follow us on social media! You can also join our South Coast Alumni Group on Facebook to stay informed with event dates and details!

It is our vision to provide this type of support to all of our alumni, so if you are a member of alumni from another state where we have not yet established in-person alumni services, please reach out to us. We would love to hear from you so that we can devise a plan in creating this continued connection for you!

A Snapshot of Our Alumni Services

Follow-ups

Alumni coordinators reach out to members of our alumni often. During each follow-up call, we'll check up on you and see how you're doing! We want to make sure that you're settling into your new, sober life! So, you have tried checking out a local meeting? Maybe you need help finding a meeting or making connections in recovery—whatever resources you may need, we'll help you out. Mainly, we want you to know that we're here to talk if you ever need anyone. We'll first follow-up the day after you complete treatment and the first week after treatment. Then, we'll reach out during your first month post-treatment, and so on.

Meet-ups

We want our graduates to know that they never enter recovery in the "real world" alone. There are hundreds of individuals in our alumni community who can act as a great resource to you because they've been where you are now. Take it from people who've been there—it's much easier to get the lay of the land with an experienced guide. For this reason, we host meet-ups nationwide to help our alumni build strong, sober support systems. All while having fun with other members in our recovery community!

Monthly Events

Our monthly events give alumni a chance to get together and do something fun! Our monthly events are the perfect opportunity to expand your group of friends. You can also meet a sponsor and get connected in other factions of 12-step groups like AA and NA. Just be yourself with a bunch of people who share the experience of staying sober with South Coast. We love bringing members of our alumni together, and are always open to suggestions for event activities too!

Facebook Groups

South Coast has two private Facebook groups, which are closed off to the public. To keep our community connected, we only include members of our alumni. We verify each request to enter our group, as to ensure your privacy and maintain your confidentiality as a client. Our Facebook groups are a place to connect with members, ask questions to the group, celebrate milestones, and learn about upcoming events.

What Else Do You Need to Know?

We would love to open our alumni services up to more members and include our services in other states where alumni of our programs reside. We are constantly evolving our alumni services to better meet the needs of all of our clients in their extended recovery.

For Parents and Families

We want you to know South Coast is still here for your loved ones after they complete our treatment program. In the same way, we are here for you as well, so don’t hesitate to reach out to us. If you have any questions or concerns, please give us a call. We will assist in answering any questions you may have.

Celebrating 1 Year Sober?

Congratulations! We are so extremely proud of you! What an amazing accomplishment to reach — we know this next year will be even better than the last. If you are able, please stop by our PHP and IOP wellness center in Newport Beach to celebrate with South Coast’s alumni community and receive your 1-year coin!

We're Constantly Evolving

As our community grows, so do our services! We want you to know that we continue our dedication to your success in sobriety, even after you graduate. We have some great ideas in store for 2023 to help provide additional support to all members of our alumni and their families. Stay in touch!
